Recently the colour that's been on everyone's radar is lilac, and rightly so, it's a refreshing change from the 'millennial pink' that's been flooding my Instagram for ages.

The colour is often associated with royalty and nobility, speaking of which let's talk about the royal wedding that took place last weekend! Meghan Markle wore a beautiful wedding dress, designed by Clare Waight Keller, the first female artistic director of Givenchy. As is the case with social media, there isn't one unanimous verdict on her dress, some say it was far too simple for a royal and others beg to differ. There is no doubt that the Duchess of Sussex has striking features and that perhaps the simplicity route was the way to go since they would enhance her existing beauty.

Admit it or not, Meghan Markle's entry into the royal family has also stirred a thought provoking conversation that's been going around since the time she was linked to Prince Harry. Elaine Welteroth, in a post on Instagram captured the gist of it perfectly, when she points to the sudden fascination of the media with the term 'biracial'. Arguably, Markle can pass on as being wholly 'white', but the question that remains is if she were to wear her natural curly hair or if her skin were a few shades deeper, would the media still refer to her as being a 'biracial women'? And if so, why isn't there the same sensitivity and awareness for others coming from similar mixed race families?
